GARY HOOVER

Deacon

Deacon Gary Hoover comes to us from Buffalo, NY where he served as a deacon in the Diocese of Buffalo for thirteen years and worked as a registered nurse.  He is married to Anne and has four children. In Buffalo, Deacon Gary served at St. Mary’s Parish and St. Francis of Assisi Parish. While at St. Francis of Assisi, he and Anne also cared for the pastor, Fr. Michael Uebler, who was Anne’s brother, until his passing.  During that time Deacon Gary was also the temporary parish administrator. Once the new priest was assigned to St Francis of Assisi, Deacon Gary and Anne decided to seek a new home in a warmer climate.  Anne was offered a position in Birmingham, and they relocated south in 2022.  Gary is retired from his lifelong career as a registered nurse, specializing in homecare and Anne is retired, too. The Hoovers live in McCalla with three of their four children: son Alex and twins Andrew and Kathryn.  Their eldest daughter Krista lives in Buffalo, NY.
