RECONCILIATION

RECONCILIATION

Well aware of the weakness of humanity, Christ entrusted His Apostles with the ability to absolve members of the faithful of their sins. Penance and Reconciliation offers all members of the Church the opportunity to demonstrate remorse by the confession of their sins to the priest, thus opening themselves to forgiveness and the healing power of God's infinite, loving mercy. The Church recommends that all Catholics make use of the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a regular basis. All Catholics have a duty to do so at least once per year.

CONFESSION TIMES

MONDAY, TUESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY

SATURDAY

8AM–8:25AM

3PM–3:50PM

You may also schedule an appointment by calling the church office.

HOW DO I KNOW WHAT TO CONFESS?

It is of great benefit to confess venial sins. On the other hand, it is necessary to confess those mortal sins which sever communion with God and His Church. When one has committed a mortal sin, it is necessary to go to confession before receiving Holy Communion. For information on the distinction, please see the following link: Understanding Mortal Sin | BeginningCatholic.com

FIRST CONFESSION FOR CHILDREN

As part of the religious education process, children receive instruction on Reconciliation in tandem with their preparation for First Communion. They then make their first confession before receiving their First Communion.

THE SICK AND HOMEBOUND

If you know anyone who is unable to come to the Church for Penance and Reconciliation, whether they live in a private residence, nursing home or are in the hospital, please contact the Church office to schedule a visit from one of the priests.

WHAT IF I'M NOT CATHOLIC?

Those who are not Catholic, but who have been baptized in another Christian denomination, are able to receive the healing graces of this sacrament as part of the process of being initiated into the Church. For those who are interested, explore our "Becoming Catholic" program.
